Antecedentes do projeto
The South Korean new materials company is mainly engaged in the production of fine chemical products. Its processing workshop requires the metered transfer and tank-to-tank transfer of various chemical liquids. Because the media are flammable, volatile, and somewhat corrosive, the customer had high requirements for pump sealing and operational safety.
After discussing the operating conditions with the customer, Changyu engineers recommended a Bomba magnética em aço inoxidável para serviço pesado CYC based on the pumped medium, site piping conditions, and operating requirements.
Centrifugal Pump for Chemical Liquid Transfer: Changyu’s Solution
For the chemical liquid transfer requirements of the customer’s fine chemical workshop in South Korea, Changyu engineers first evaluated the operating conditions, including the properties of the medium, operating temperature, flow rate, head, and site piping conditions. Based on the overall project requirements, the CYC Series Heavy-Duty Stainless Steel Magnetic Pump was selected as the transfer equipment.
The CYC uses a magnetic drive structure that eliminates the dynamic shaft seal used in conventional mechanical seals. This keeps the pumped medium isolated from the drive side and reduces the leakage risk associated with mechanical seal failure, making the pump suitable for fine chemical applications where enclosed liquid transfer is required.

Why Was This Pump Recommended?
The CYC magnetic pump was selected based on three main considerations.
1. Safety and Enclosed Transfer
Fine chemical products often include flammable and explosive media. The CYC magnetic pump uses a sealless design that eliminates leakage at the conventional dynamic shaft seal. Its magnetic drive structure isolates the power transmission components from the pumped medium, reducing the leakage risk that may occur at the shaft seal of conventional mechanically sealed pumps. This makes it suitable for chemical liquids that are volatile or require a higher level of operational containment.
2. Compatibilidade de materiais
Based on the medium composition, concentration, and operating temperature provided by the customer, Changyu engineers selected 316L stainless steel for the main wetted parts. Final material selection should be confirmed according to the specific chemical properties, concentration, temperature, and other process conditions of the pumped medium.
3. Maintenance Requirements
Conventional mechanically sealed pumps require periodic replacement of sealing components and may require shutdowns for maintenance. Compared with mechanically sealed pumps, the CYC eliminates the dynamic mechanical shaft seal, which can reduce maintenance associated with mechanical seal wear, leakage, and replacement.
During operation, the bearings, magnetic drive components, and pump condition should be inspected regularly in accordance with the equipment maintenance requirements.
Changyu Engineers’ Pump Selection and Operating Recommendations
During the selection process, Changyu engineers focused on the actual flow requirement, piping head loss, medium density, and viscosity. A Chemical Transfer Pump should not be selected based only on flow rate and head. Medium density, viscosity, and temperature must also be considered.
For high-viscosity or high-density media, the required torque of the pump shaft and magnetic drive system should be recalculated to prevent long-term operation beyond the design conditions. Changyu also recommended installing a filter in the piping system to prevent hard particles from entering the pump chamber. Sufficient positive pressure should be maintained at the pump inlet to help prevent cavitation.
For the customer’s 24-hour continuous operation, Changyu recommended allowing 10%–15% motor power margin to avoid prolonged full-load operation and potential motor overheating.
For installation, the pump foundation was fitted with vibration-reducing pads, while independent supports were provided for the inlet and outlet piping to reduce piping stress on the pump body.
During commissioning, Changyu engineers provided on-site guidance and confirmed that the pump rotation, flow rate, and pressure were within the design range before the equipment was put into operation.
Operating Status of the Pump on Site
Conclusão
Since being put into operation in February 2024, the CYC magnetic pump has operated steadily at the South Korean customer’s site without leakage or shutdown failures, and the customer has recognized the safety of the transfer system.
This project demonstrates how a Centrifugal Pump for Chemical Liquid Transfer can be configured for fine chemical processing requirements by combining appropriate flow and head parameters, 316L stainless steel wetted parts, and magnetic drive technology.
