Contexte du projet
In fine chemical production, the wastewater treatment section is not simply a liquid transfer process. Compared with conventional industrial wastewater, chemical wastewater often contains multiple chemical components, corrosive substances, and suspended impurities, creating higher requirements for pumping equipment.
In this project, the customer manufactures organic pigments such as Permanent Violet. During the production process, various by-product waste liquids are generated and transferred to the wastewater treatment system. Unlike general wastewater, this chemical wastewater contains hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, alkaline pollutants, anthracene, carbazole, and other organic intermediates.
Because of the medium’s complex composition, pumps used in this application must withstand both chemical corrosion and mechanical wear during long-term operation. Standard metal pumps may handle common liquid transfer applications, but they often struggle with acidic wastewater containing impurities and fluctuating chemical compositions.
During the initial operation stage, the customer’s existing pumping equipment experienced several problems:
- Corrosion occurred on wetted components after long-term contact with acidic wastewater, affecting continuous operation.
- Organic intermediates and impurities in the wastewater caused wear on internal flow passages and reduced pump performance.
- Frequent maintenance requirements increased operational pressure on the wastewater treatment system.
Therefore, the key requirement of this project was not simply selecting a wastewater pump, but identifying a solution that could handle corrosive chemical wastewater with complex components and impurities.
After analyzing the operating conditions, Pompe Changyu recommended the UHB Series Slurry Pump for this chemical wastewater treatment application.

Solution Changyu Pump
For this project, Changyu Pump provided a pumping solution based on the UHB Series Corrosion Resistant Slurry Pump.
When selecting the right pump for chemical wastewater applications, the engineering team focused on three critical factors:
First, the wastewater contained hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, which required pump materials with strong chemical resistance to avoid rapid corrosion of wetted components.
Second, the wastewater included organic intermediates such as anthracene and carbazole. The pump needed to handle potential deposits, impurities, and wear caused by complex media conditions.
Third, the wastewater treatment process required stable continuous operation, reducing downtime caused by corrosion-related failures and maintenance.
Based on these requirements, Changyu Pump selected the UHB Series Slurry Pump as the recommended solution.
Application Advantages of UHB Series Slurry Pump
Corrosion Resistant Design for Chemical Wastewater: The UHB Series Slurry Pump adopts a steel-lined ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) structure.
Compared with conventional metal pumps, this material configuration reduces direct contact between corrosive chemical wastewater and metal components, making it suitable for applications involving hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, alkaline solutions, and other aggressive industrial fluids.
For chemical plants, material compatibility is one of the most important factors affecting pump service life and system reliability.
Suitable for Wastewater Containing Organic Intermediates and Impurities: The wastewater generated during Permanent Violet production contains anthracene, carbazole, and other organic intermediates, making it more complex than ordinary industrial wastewater.
The UHB Series Pump is designed for slurry and corrosive media transfer. Its structure allows stable handling of wastewater containing impurities and reduces operational problems caused by medium variations.
This makes it suitable for chemical wastewater treatment systems where both corrosion resistance and wear resistance are required.
Combined Corrosion and Wear Resistance: In actual chemical production environments, wastewater transfer challenges are usually not caused by corrosion alone.
For example:
- Acidic components cause chemical corrosion;
- Solid impurities cause mechanical wear;
- Long-term operation accelerates the degradation of wetted components and sealing systems.
Therefore, selecting only a corrosion-resistant pump may not fully meet the requirements of complex wastewater applications.
The UHB Series Pump combines corrosion-resistant materials with slurry handling capability, making it a suitable choice for demanding chemical wastewater treatment conditions.

Engineering Selection Guide
For chemical wastewater treatment systems, pump selection should not be based only on the word “wastewater”.
Different manufacturing processes generate wastewater with completely different chemical compositions, corrosion levels, solid contents, and operating conditions.
For example:
- Dye manufacturing wastewater may contain organic intermediates;
- Acid washing wastewater may have strong corrosive characteristics;
- Chemical reaction by-products may contain suspended solids or crystallized materials.
When selecting the Best Corrosion Resistant Pumps for Chemical Wastewater, engineers usually need to evaluate:
- Chemical composition of the wastewater;
- Acid and alkaline concentration;
- Solid particle content;
- Operating temperature;
- Required flow rate and head;
- Continuous operating conditions.
Among these factors, material compatibility is usually the most important consideration.
Many pump failures are not caused by insufficient flow or head performance, but by incorrect material selection for the actual chemical environment. Therefore, chemical wastewater applications require pump selection based on real operating conditions rather than only the wastewater category.
Changyu Pump has extensive experience serving chemical processing, new material production, mining, and corrosive media transfer industries. Based on actual process conditions, our engineering team provides support from operating condition analysis and pump selection to application solutions.
