Solutions de pompes marines et pour eau de mer

Marine engineering pump duties may involve continuously aerated seawater, tidal level changes, suspended sand, warm cooling water, concentrated brine and restricted maintenance access. These conditions affect corrosion, cavitation, wear, sealing and service life.

Changyu Pump reviews seawater chemistry, chloride level, temperature, suspended solids, particle size, flow, total head, tide or tank level, NPSHa, installation position, operating hours and material requirements before recommending a pump series.

APPLICABLE FLUID

Marine & Seawater Pumping Applications

A marine or coastal project contains several different pump duties. Screened seawater, cooling circulation, construction water with sand, pits and sumps, concentrated brine and auxiliary transfer cannot be assigned the same pump or material by default.

Changyu Pump separates clean-water hydraulic duties from abrasive and solids-bearing duties, then checks alloy, seal, suction arrangement and maintenance access against the actual project conditions.

Clean Seawater Intake / Cooling & Circulation / Port & Marine Construction / Pits, Tanks & Sumps / Brine & Salt Slurry / Auxiliary Transfer

Clean Seawater Intake, Lifting and Transfer

Utilisation :

This duty covers screened seawater without settled sand, shells or large solids. The pump must provide stable flow while resisting chloride attack and maintaining adequate NPSH margin as tide or intake level changes.

CYH is the first Changyu series to evaluate for clean seawater, brackish water and compatible saltwater transfer. The final wet-end alloy and seal faces are selected from chloride level, temperature, oxygen, deposits and required service life.

Main selection factors

  • Design, normal and minimum flow
  • Total dynamic head and tide range
  • NPSHa and suction geometry
  • Salinity, chloride and temperature
  • Screen condition and suspended solids
  • Wet-end alloy and seal faces

Cooling Water Circulation

Utilisation :

Marine engines, heat exchangers, coastal plants and offshore packages may require continuous cooling-water circulation. Warm seawater, oxygen, biofouling and deposits can reduce hydraulic performance and accelerate corrosion.

CYH is evaluated for screened seawater circulation when the hydraulic duty and material are compatible. CYE can be considered where an above-level pump must lift screened water by self-priming. Very large cooling-water flows require individual hydraulic review.

Pompes recommandées

Main selection factors

  • Continuous and standby flow
  • System resistance and equipment pressure drop
  • Minimum intake level and NPSHa
  • Seawater temperature and chlorination
  • Biofouling and cleaning method
  • Motor margin and duty cycle

Port, Dock and Marine Construction Water

Utilisation :

Dewatering, caisson work, dredging support and temporary marine construction can introduce sand, silt, rust scale or variable solids. A clean-water seawater pump should not be used by default when abrasive particles are normal.

PGY is evaluated for medium-to-large abrasive sand or silt transfer. PHH is suitable when abrasive service also needs higher head or a longer discharge line. CYE is considered for self-priming transfer from a pit or excavation after solids size and concentration are confirmed.

Pompes recommandées

Main selection factors

  • Concentration en solides et taille des particules
  • Slurry density and settling tendency
  • Flow, head and pipeline length
  • Suction lift and priming requirement
  • Intermittent or continuous operation
  • Wear-part and flushing plan

Pits, Tanks, Bilges and Sumps

Utilisation :

Marine pits, ballast-related tanks, deck drains and sumps can contain seawater, rust, sediment, oily contamination or treatment chemicals. The pump arrangement depends on liquid level, access, solids and whether the pump is above or inside the tank.

CYE is evaluated for self-priming suction from below-level pits. FY suits compatible tank-mounted or immersed duties with flooded suction. BFQ or BFD diaphragm pumps can be considered for intermittent dirty liquid, variable flow or entrained air after diaphragm and valve compatibility are checked.

Pompes recommandées

Main selection factors

  • Liquid composition and oil content
  • Solids size and concentration
  • Minimum and maximum liquid level
  • Suction lift or immersion depth
  • Intermittent or continuous duty
  • Material and diaphragm compatibility

Concentrated Brine and Salt Slurry

Utilisation :

Desalination reject, saltworks and coastal process systems may handle concentrated brine, crystals or settled salt solids. Corrosion and abrasion must be evaluated together, and clean brine should be separated from salt slurry.

UHB is evaluated for lower-temperature corrosive brine with fine abrasive solids. PGY or PHH is considered for denser salt slurry, larger solids, higher flow or higher head. ZJP-Z hose pumps can suit lower-flow concentrated brine slurry, salt crystals or viscous mother liquor when hose compatibility is confirmed. Clean brine without solids requires a separate hydraulic and alloy review.

Pompes recommandées

Main selection factors

  • Salinity and chloride concentration
  • Crystal size and solids by weight
  • Specific gravity and viscosity
  • Température de fonctionnement
  • Flow, head and pipe velocity
  • Material, seal and flushing arrangement

Marine Auxiliary Transfer and Cleaning

Utilisation :

Auxiliary duties include deck washing, temporary transfer, service water, tank cleaning and emergency drainage. The liquid may be clean seawater, dirty drainage or a chemical cleaning solution, so the pump should be selected from the actual medium rather than the word auxiliary.

CYH is evaluated for compatible screened seawater. CYE suits above-level self-priming transfer. FY is considered for compatible immersed installation, while BFQ or BFD may suit intermittent dirty or air-entrained liquids after material compatibility is confirmed.

Pompes recommandées

Main selection factors

  • Actual liquid composition
  • Required flow and discharge pressure
  • Self-priming or immersed installation
  • Solids, air and intermittent operation
  • Portable or fixed arrangement
  • Material, seal or diaphragm compatibility

How to Select a Pump for Marine Engineering Service

The word seawater is not enough to select a pump. Marine projects must be checked against the actual water chemistry, solids, hydraulic system, installation and maintenance constraints.

  • Seawater, brackish water, concentrated brine or salt slurry composition
  • Chloride, temperature, oxygen, chlorination and other chemicals
  • Suspended solids, particle size, shells, sand and settling tendency
  • Design, normal and minimum flow plus total dynamic head
  • Tide or tank level, suction lift, NPSHa and priming requirement
  • Continuous or intermittent duty, certification and maintenance access

Frontière de sélection : High-pressure RO feed, seawater injection, very large vertical intake, fire-fighting and class-critical marine service require separate engineering and certification review.

FAQ

CYH is normally the first series to evaluate for screened clean seawater, brackish water and compatible saltwater transfer. The final hydraulic model, wet-end alloy, seal faces and elastomers must still be selected from the actual flow, head, NPSHa, chloride level, temperature and required service life.

For lower-temperature corrosive brine containing fine abrasive solids or salt mud, the UHB Series is one pump to evaluate. Denser salt slurry, larger solids, higher flow or higher head may require a PGY or PHH slurry pump. Final selection depends on complete brine chemistry, chloride concentration, temperature, solids content, particle size, flow, head and material compatibility.

No. 316L stainless steel is not automatically suitable for every seawater duty. Material selection must consider chloride level, temperature, oxygen, chlorination, deposits, crevices, flow conditions and required service life. Depending on the conditions, duplex, super duplex or another compatible wet-end material may be required.

A self-priming pump should be considered when the pump is installed above the liquid level and must lift liquid from a dock, pit, tank or excavation. The CYE Series can be evaluated after the suction lift, minimum liquid level, priming time, solids size and concentration, flow, head and material compatibility are confirmed.

High-pressure RO feed, seawater injection, very large vertical intake, fire-fighting and class-critical marine duties are not standard series selections on this page. They require an individual engineering and certification review against the full project specification, applicable code, pressure requirements and marine-class requirements.
